The "Erzsébet" Danube-bridge at Komárom was
built in1891-92. The central spans have been
exploded during World Wor II. After the
reconstruction in 1946, the deck was rebuilt in
1962, and in 1980. A full scale reconstruction of
the 110 years old bridge is planned in 2004-2005.
Beyond the overall retrofit works (new covering and
insulation, structural repair, paint), new steel
sidewalk cantilevers will be built on both sides of
the bridge. In order to increase the former 20 to
loading class up to 40 tonnes, some elements of the
deck and the main trusses will be strenghtened. |
